Disclosure Day definitely is an action, a drama and a chase film like The Minority Report, but not as much of a Science Fiction concept.
Spielberg's latest offer asks more a moral dilemna: Should Society at large be disclosed the truth of our place in the Universe?
The question regards hard evidence of the existence of extra- terrestrial life.
Is Ignorance to the cosmic truth actually an orchestrated bliss that should continue beyond this modern age?
Disclosure Day most closely resembles Steven's Minority Report when one looks at his former movies. This similarity is regarding a protagonist that throughout the film is being traced and hunted relentlessly via an interesting Sci-Fi/ Magic concept.
Steven Spielberg's original story that David Koepp fleshed out into a slightly muddled, tonally schitzophrenic script (the tech darkness of Minority Report, schmaltzy childhood glow of E.T.) , the Story owe's a mild debt to Philip K. Dick's paranoia in my opinion, mixed with a traditional alien, US Government conspiracy concept at its peak in popularity during the 1990s. X-Files, the 'Truth' is out there, vibes.
Disclosure Day is not as well conveyed, popcorn entertaining, as Tom Cruise's 2002 paranoid actioner but also nowhere near as terrible as the net critics are leading one to believe.
7 out of 10 flying saucers.
